Dunmer and Mushrooms – Morrowind in TESO Announcement
Last sunday The Elder Scrolls Online suddenly posted a gif on their official Twitter Account showing black steaming lava without any further commentary. So of course the first speculations were starting and since datamining had already found some stuff about Vvardenfell in the TESO data the rumours got loud that TESO was going to introduce Morrowind as an upcoming DLC. Two days later there was an official Twitch stream and they actually announced that Morrowind was indeed coming to TESO!
But not only just as a DLC like all the expansions have been before but as a huge Addon that also comes to retail stores and such. And it’s massive! I am definitely impressed how this game is growing and at what rate. They must have been working simultaniously on the huge housing patch that is coming next week and on the Morrwind Addon. The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will be available on ALL platforms in ALL countries on the 6th of June so exactly 15 years after TES III: Morrowind had been released. And since the old Morrowind is still a big thing in the TES fandom and most TES fans I know started their journey in Tamriel in Morrowind of course they are going nuts right now.
The “new” Morrwind will actually be an “old” Morrwind because TESO is set about 700 years earlier than the original Morrwind game. So there still is a looming meteor above the city and no vulcano drama (Hey, I’m not spoilering!) thus the landscape in Morrowind is still far more diverse with a lot of lush plants and of course the big mushrooms. And YES, there will be housing in TESO: Morrowind so your favourite Telvanni will be able to buy their mushroom dream house! Also there will be a character that the Morrowind fans already know and love: Naryu Virian, an assassin from the famous dunmeri assassin’s guild the Morag Tong. We know that there will be a full new story questline around Vivec (one god of the Dunmer pantheon) which will involve her and the Morag Tong. The developers are expecting around 30 hours of story playtime in the Addon. But of course there will be a lot more you can do and discover in Morrowind. At least I hope so because the Addon is as expensive as a full new game.
On the PvE side they are introducing a full new class which you can play if you buy the Addon: The Warden. The Warden will have nature-based abilities and will be accompanied by a bear as a combat pet. Obviously, the warden has frost magic and healing powers. With Homestead there will be a new possibility to skill a frost staff so you can use it as a tank weapon and I guess it’s because of the warden. I am SO excited for this new class. Since forever I whished for some fully nature-based class with a pet and I am definitely going to build one in style of the Wyrd Sisters (kind of nature-based witches). And additionally they are going to implement a whole new Trial for the hardcore engame PvE Raiders, presumably in the Clockwork City.
Furthermore the PvP part of the game is going to be expanded with something that players have wanted for years now: Battleground. This will be quick PvP skirmishes with 4 vs 4 vs 4 which will only take about 15 minutes. At the beginning they are introducing 3 different maps for those battleground where you have to fulfil different objectives like a death match or capture the flag, so classical PvP stuff. You aren’t bound to an alliance to get into a battleground group so you can just join up with a group of friends and show the other teams what you are made of. I am really looking forward to that because I don’t really enjoy the PvP in Cyrodiil with those massive amounts of players in one spot because it’s extremely confusing and most of the time most of the players have big performance issues due to the amount of players.
So, if you are excited right now and have the money you are already able to pre-order! Pre-orders will get some special items and such as a reward. There will be different versions of the Addon itself, so you can for example just buy a digital upgrade to the game if you already own TESO or the full special Collector’s edition with a book and a statue in the store. Of course, I was weak, and already pre-orderd.
And now go watch the trailer, it’s so cool! See you in Morrowind! 🙂
