Interlude – Mod list for our Dragon Age Origins Playthrough

Anna’s mods

As requested here is a list of the mods I use. Some are purely cosmetic, some change the game mechanics a bit, though nothing too drastic. I also wrote them down in the approximate order one should install them. All of these are on the Dragon Age Nexus.

Firstly:

Dragon Age Re-Designed  – has an installer. and several settings. I am using the recommended settings. you have to use the npc installer first and install the textures only – then whatever else you want.

Then I’d suggest installing everything that is in .dazip or .override format. Use the DAO Mod Manager, NOT AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES THE NEXUS MOD MANAGER! No! It will mess up your game.

Natural Bodies all in One – has a lot of settings again, pick your fancy, lets you fix some weird proportion issues like the giant hands on male characters
Equal Love – self explanatory right? Nice even if your don’t want to go for one of the main romances because it opens up some NPC flirts and kisses

Base Chest – storage at your base camp
Character Respec Mod – very useful if your get companions at higher leves and the game messed their stats up already
Combat Tweaks – changes to the combat system that don’t imbalance your game but make everything make more sense
Dialogue Tweaks – mostly fixes for things that sometimes didn’t trigger correctly, some restored dialogue
LRS Leliana (Improved Leliana Romance) – Fantastic enhancement to Leliana’s romance. The mod author really put a lot of effort and thought into this
Morrigan Restorations (Improved everything with Morrigan) – great even if you don’t play the romance, restores a lot of lost dialogue and makes her personal quest more involved instead of that choppy vanilla mess
no helmet hack – can’t live without that one
Polygamey – for all your polyshipping needs
The Icons Project  – reworks all the game icons, essential for Improved Atmosphere and for a better overview in your inventory
Two Spec Sten – bc originally he only gets one. (wtf?)
Universal Dye Kit – Dye your armor and be fashionable!
Lockbash – Do what anyone would do with a locked chest – break it open!
Zevran ASAP – Moves the cutscenes up and makes it possible for Zevran to join you shortly after Lothering
ZRS – (Better Romance) – Zevran romance enhancement.
All Origins Playable – if you really want to play a mage that lives in the alienage
Grey Wardens of Ferelden – Warden Armor from DA2 for Origins (pretty!)
Dance Party – purely for fun, makes your companions dance at the click of a mouse. Ridicolous but fun!
Cullen Romance Option – adds a small mini romance to his flirting in the mage origin – cute
Auto Loot Mod – loots without having to go through the inventory screen every single time
Class & Specialisation Pack – Adds new, very thought through classes that are quite well balanced to the game. I don’t use it atm, but I had fun playing a Warlock last time.

There is an improved romance mod for Alistair too, but since I never romance him I don’t have that one installed. There are compatibility patches though, so you can install them all at the same time.
And the mods you just have to paste into your override folder (but double check bc with some you have to pick a variant, like with faster weapons):
Bridelle’s Cosmetics– (mainly for better textures and eyes)
Black Hair is Black – just a quick colour fix
Faster Weapons balanced edition – has a lot of variation, blanaced works well for me
Freckles Plus – adds freckles under the tattoo options
Hairstyle Day,More Hairstyles, Look Hair – 3 different hair mods that add both long and short hair variants (for Look hair just scroll down the files and ignore everything else, the hair is on the bottom)
Mild Romances – the opposite of the better sex scenes mod who turns sex in the camp into a porn competition. this tones the vanilla scenes down even more.
Madd Gift Guide – handy mod that adds the recipients name to each gift so you know whom to give it too
Pinapple Tree’s Vibrant Colors – More Haircolours
Rendezvous at the Tavern – Gives you an option for a date with your significant other at the tavern in Denerim
Zevran Dialogue Fixes – fixes stuff that didn’t trigger right
Back to Ferelden – Imports some DA2 Armour into Origins
Triss Retexture for Mage Wardens – The armour re texture my mage is wearing atm. Requires Return to Ferelden

And lastly:
Improved Atmosphere – I’d advise to install this last bc you have to overwrite certain other things and/or replace them. It comes with a huge pdf that explains everything in detail. It is a modular mod, you you can read through it and pick and choose what to use.

Julie’s mods

Well, I planned to to an extra post but there are so few additions in my mods that I’ll just add them here 😉 Most of the above-mentioned are in my game as well.

Gameplay

Extra Dog slot – I actually like the dog. (Called him Wrex after Würa’s suggestion.) This gives you the possibility to have him with you despite having three humanoid companions already. EDIT: the mod seems to be a bit buggy, atm it’s not working for me. Hm. Not sure how to fix it. (Which makes me sad because I loved this mod…)
Summoning Portal – a bit cheaty. Gives you the possibility to change your party whenever you like and not only at camp. EDIT: Seems like Improved Atmosphere (probably) adds a button in the main line at the top of the screen that let’s you change your party whenever. I deinstalled the mod thusly.
DaliahLynn’s Sleep Until Dawn – gives you the possibility to “go into your tent” at night to sleep. You can sleep alone, invite Dog or one of your companions, if some romance is active. Next scene is the camp in morning light.

Beauticious stuff

Dalish presets – gives some additional, very nice presets for Elves
More hairstyles – just another hair mod for more hairstyles. (Orly?)
Kirkwall exports – adds the well-known clothes from DA2. I just love it!

    Ah, thank you very much.
Some I already knew (and have them installed), some I did not know of.

I used the improved Alistair romance mod on my last playthrough back then, and it seems to be made by the same author as the improved Leliana romance. I can highly recommend the Alistair mod, so I guess the Leliana version is just as awesome.

    I’ll be bookmarking this post.

I was wondering if you had the link to the All Origins Player Mod, it’s no longer available on the BSN or Nexus Mods
