Day 20 – Conclusion
Day 20: Conclusion
How did they want their story to end? How did it actually end? Do they get a happily ever after?
Amara didn’t ever plan ahead. She lives in the moment and never dared to make plans for the future. In the beginning she does want to go home to her clan at some point but after a while she starts to realise that even though she tried to fit in and the clan would always welcome her – it hasn’t really been her home after all.
After defeating Corypheus she stays with the Inquisition. It helps her that her closes friends (Vivenne, Sera, Dorian and Bull) stay as well and she keeps trying to live up to the expectations put on her. Both her relationships continue on. She keeps on living in Skyhold for a while even when most of the Inquisition forces have disbanded already. When it some day gets too quiet she doesn’t feel at home there anymore and moves with Sera to a small city where a certain mercenary company tends to pass through a lot.
If anyone would ask her she is as happy as one can be with the impending doom of the entire world looming somewhere ahead of her.
For a long time, all Lyssa wants is to go home, back to her clan. She never does, though. At the end of the main game, Lyssa discovers that she is pregnant and even if it weren’t for that, her duties as Inquisitor don’t end. After Trespasser, she has been with the Inquisition for five years and calls Skyhold home and her closest friends stay with her even after she disbands the Inquisition to search for Solas in secret and prevent his plans. Having grown into her position as leader, ‘saving the world’ does trump her wish to live with the clan again.
If one would ask her whether she was happy, she’d probably say yes. She does miss Solas terribly and cannot condone his plans (even if she can understand them to a degree) but family has always been more to her than blood or romantic involvement.
Considering there is still the possibility for another Dragon Age Game continuing the Inquisitor’s story, I’m reluctant to formulate a “happily ever after” or even some kind of ending to her story. Assuming there won’t be another game, though, then yes. She will get it. She will be able to convince Solas to come home to her and find a way to restore something of old without destroying everything in this world. I am like that.
